Jakarta - Honda Brio akan meluncur sebelum Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS). Mobil nan mungil ini kabarnya akan dijual seharga Rp 150 juta. Itu berarti harganya lebih mahal Rp 30 juta dari harga Brio di Thailand."Saat ini sudah banyak (konsumen) yang melakukan pemesanan," ujar sumber detikOto di PT Honda Prospect Motor.
"Diusahakan sebelum motor show (Indonesia International Motor Show yang akan digelar bulan September 2012)," kata Jonfis.
Untuk tahap awal Honda Brio yang akan mereka jual itu merupakan Honda Brio rakitan Thailand sebanyak 2.000 unit dulu.
"Baru pas 2013 kita mulai produksi di pabrik lama (di Karawang), jumlahnya berapa, itu nanti salah satunya tergantung dari reaksi pasar," papar Jonfis.
Produksi Honda Brio di pabrik lama Honda tersebut menurut Jonfis dilakukan sambil menunggu pembangunan pabrik baru Honda yang memang dibuat untuk mobil-mobil model baru seperti Brio.
Fasilitas produksi baru yang dipersiapkan untuk menyongsong pertumbuhan penjualan mobil di Indonesia itu sendiri berada di belakang pabrik lama Honda yang terletak di kawasan Industrti Mitrakarawang, Desa Parungmulya, Jawa Barat.
Dan bila pabrik lama Honda hanya memiliki kapasitas produksi sebesar 60.000 mobil saja per tahunnya, pabrik baru nanti dirancang untuk memproduksi mobil dua kali lipat lebih besar dari pabrik lama yakni hingga 120.000 untuk menjadikan total produksi mobil Honda di Indonesia menjadi sebesar 180.000 mobil per tahunnya.
"Yang pasti dengan kita produksi disini kita punya keleluasaan ngatur speknya," tandasnya.
Honda Brio sendiri adalah sebuah city car Honda yang menggendong mesin 3 silinder hasil turunan dari mesin empat silinder berkapasitas 1.2 liter yang saat ini digendong Jazz.'
Konsumsi bensin Honda Brio tercatat mampu menjangkau jarak 100 km dengan konsumsi BBM 5 liter atau 20 km/liter, kurang sedikit dari permintaan pemerintah di angka 22 km/liter.
